Firewall Protection

Hello friends in this i am going to discuss one of the most interesting concept from the field of networking i.e Network Firewall.In this post i told you what firewall is,how it works and many other things related to it.

In simple terms we can say that firewall is a system that is used to prevent unauthorized access to a network or from a network.One more definition of firewall is that it is a security system that is present at the gateway of the network so that users from the other network cannot access the resources of the other network.

The firewall machine that is used is configured with a set of rules that decide which network traffic will be allowed to pass or which will be rejected.A Firewall system can be configured in many ways.One more common type of firewall arrangement contains separate machines that are known as perimeter network.In the series of machines two machines that are known as chokes,their main task is to allow only a certain type of traffic.
Between these chokes network servers such as a mail gateway or a World Wide Web proxy server resides.But now a days the firewalls that are used contains only one machine that serve all the functions.You can use firewall protection in many ways like packet filter,application gateway,circuit-level gateway and proxy server.You can use any type of technique for the protection of your network.Generally a firewall is often installed in a specially designated computer separate from the rest of the network so that no incoming request can get directly at private network resources.
