World's fastest processor

Hello friends in this post i am going to told you about the world's fastest processor that is launched by IBM(International Business Machine).

The processor that they had launched belongs to the generation of Power6, that's why name that is given to this processor is IBM Power6 processor. This processor is dual core processor and has a frequency of 4.7 Ghz.It is assumed that at speed of 4.7 GHz,the dual-core Power6 processor doubles the speed of the previous generation Power5 while using nearly the same amount of electricity to run and cool it.This Power6 processor is built using with the help of IBM’s state-of-the-art 65 nanometer process technology.IBM also claims that this is the first UNIX microprocessor able to calculate decimal floating point arithmetic in hardware. Before this all the calculations involving decimal numbers with floating decimal points were done using software.

In addition to all of these this Power6 processor chip includes additional techniques to conserve power and reduce heat generated by Power6 processor-based servers. Processor clocks can be dynamically turned off when there is no useful work to be done and turned back on when there are instructions to be executed. When we compare the bandwidth of this processor with the others, the Power6 chip offers 300 gigabytes per second, enough to download the entire iTunes catalog in about 60 seconds which is many times faster than other processors.
